Location: Westin Edmonton

Attendees must have a CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) Designation to qualify to write the CSP Examination.

The Edmonton Chapter of the CSSE is proud to provide our members and all Safety Practitioners with the opportunity of continued Professional Development. We have partnered once again with SPAN International Training to bring the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Designation Prep Course back to Alberta this year.

The CSP Designation is the highest professional designation available in the United States and is recognized internationally. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is recognized as the leader in high-quality credentialing for safety, health, and environmental practitioners in order to enhance the safety of people, property, and the environment. The Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) certification is the premier credential for safety professionals.

The success rate when writing the CSP examination is generally low; but for those taking this course and preparing for it, the rate of success on the first attempt is exceptionally high. We have offered the course in Alberta five (5) times and over 90 % of the registrants who have proceeded to prepare for and write the exam were successful.

This course is designed to prepare individuals for the Comprehensive Examination leading to certification as a CSP. The workshop covers the four areas of the exam: engineering, management, information management and communications and professional conduct and ethics. Your preparation will include lectures, sample problems, and discussions on a variety of subjects to prepare the student for the exam. At the completion of the CSP prep workshop participants will learn:
• Concepts of probability, statistics and calculus
• Engineering: safety and environmental, occupational health, fire protection
• Applied management: principles, ergonomic analysis, risk management, Workers’ Compensation
• Legal/regulatory and professional affairs

Each student is provided with:
• New 2010 version of the CSP Workbook
• Newly revised interactive CD with multiple test and flashcard options
• BCSP approved scientific calculator.

BCRSP has awarded this course 1.5 BMP.
